Silicon Storage ( SSTI - Get Report) plunged 12% in preopen Island trading.

After Thursday's close, the maker of flash memory products posted fourth-quarter earnings of 42 cents a share, excluding charges, missing the First Call/Thomson Financial estimate of 46 cents.

The company also warned that first-quarter sales would be flat at best compared to the fourth quarter and said earnings for the full year would be $1.50 to $1.75, below the Street's estimate.

Credit Suisse First Boston lowered its earnings estimate for 2001 to $1.36 from $1.95.
