Jim Cramer's Stop Trading: Buy Intel, Not Advanced Micro Devices

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- CEO departures are the hot topic for Thursday, as earlier, TheStreet's Jim Cramer discussed Gap's (GPS)  chief executive departure and how investors should handle the stock.

On CNBC's "Cramer's Stop Trading" segment, Cramer, the co-manager of the Action Alerts PLUS portfolio, took a look at shares of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) , which are lower by about 6%.

The company said that Lisa Su, its general manager and senior vice president, will replace Rory Read as president and chief executive.

Instead of using the selloff as an opportunity to buy shares of Advanced Micro Devices, investors should buy Intel (INTC) instead, Cramer said.

Intel reports earnings on Oct. 14 after the market close, while Advanced Micro Devices reports earnings on Oct. 16 after the market close.
