In 1924, Louis Saia, Sr. of Houma, La. removed the back seat of the family car and the first Saia truck was born. With more than 3,000 trucks on the road, Saia has managed to post nine consecutive quarters of 98 percent on-time service. It has invested nearly $100 million in state-of-the art technology, training and business processes to enhance its ability to monitor and manage customer service, operations and profitability. Saia LTL Freight has been recognized multiple times by the American Trucking Associations Safety Management Council with honors for its outstanding safety record and recognized by the American Chemistry Council Responsible Care Program as Carrier of the Year. It will mark its 90 th anniversary with a series of events in New York City, Atlanta and Houma.
