Why American Airlines (AAL) Stock Is Gaining Today

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- American Airlines (AAL)AAL was gaining 3.5% to $40.56 Monday following a drop in crude-oil futures.

Light, sweet crude future for September recently fell to $96.26 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange while Brent oil fell to $102.60 a barrel on London's ICE Futures exchange.

The lower crude-oil futures helped push up airline stocks including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines (DAL)DAL, and JetBlue Airways (JBLU)JBLU.
