Why AIG (AIG) STock Is Up in After-Hours Trading Today

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- American International (AIG) was gaining 3% to $54.26 after-hours Monday after beating analysts' estimates for earnings and revenue in the second quarter.

For the second quarter AIG reported earnings of $1.25 a share, beating the Capital IQ Consensus Estimate of $1.05 cents a share by 20 cents. Revenue grew 2.2% from the year-ago quarter to $8.53 billion. Analysts expected revenue of $8.13 billion for the quarter.

The company also declared a dividend of 12.5 cents a share payable on Sept. 25 to all shareholders of record as of the close of business on Sept. 11.
