Jim Cramer's Mad Dash: Back-to-School Shopping Helps Kohl's, PVH and J.C. Penney

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Back-to-school shopping is strong this year, says TheStreet's Jim Cramer, co-manager of the Action Alerts PLUS portfolio

On CNBC's "Cramer's Mad Dash" segment, Cramer attributed strong back-to-school retail sales to lower gasoline prices and a stronger labor market. PVH (PVH) had struggled in the previous three quarters, but did very well on its most recent earnings report.

Cramer said that J.C. Penney (JCP) and Kohl's (KSS) -- two retailers that sell PVH's products -- are also doing well, and that J.C. Penney is in the midst of a "major comeback."

Macy's (M) is also doing well, Cramer concluded, but he said that the company faces tougher comparable-store sales than many of its peers.

At the time of publication, Cramer's Action Alerts PLUS owned shares of PVH.
