Why Twitter (TWTR) Stock Is Soaring in After-Hours Trading Today

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Twitter  (TWTR) soared in after-hours trading on Tuesday after the social media company reported second-quarter earnings that beat analysts' expectations.

Twitter reported earnings of 2 cents a share, which beat analysts' estimates of a loss of a penny a share. Revenue of $312 million smashed the consensus estimate of $283.07 million.

The stock was up more than 18% to more than $45 in after-hours trading.
