The position: Agroecology research manager for the Rodale Institute
Location: Kutztown, Pennsylvania
Job duties: Co-directs institutional research projects to help identify and secure government funding. Oversees a research team of three full-time staff and four seasonal field technicians. Provides leadership and vision for agroecological research projects. Identifies and secures government grants, including grant writing. Manages fiscal resources for research activities. Publishes annual peer-reviewed manuscripts.
The company: Founded by organic agricultural pioneer J.I. Rodale, the Rodale Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to organic agricultural research and outreach to farmers, policymakers and the general public.
Requirements: Requires a PhD in ecology or extensive agroecology training. Must have experience managing research projects, including grant-funded projects and meeting deliverables in a timely fashion. Applicants should have a background preferably in organic or sustainable agricultural practices. Requires hands-on sustainable agricultural experience, plus experience in the design and implementation of new research trials. Candidates must have extensive experience with and understanding of standard soil and crop analytical techniques. Requires working knowledge and understanding of the National Organic Standards.
