NEW YORK (MainStreet) – There are always plenty of deals and discounts to go around during the holiday season, but certain items tend to be exempt. Hot electronic devices like the iPad, for instance, are almost never marked down by more than 5%-10%, and the newest video game consoles likewise tend to be uniformly priced across retailers. The same goes for the newest and most popular video games, which usually take a while to come down from their MSRP.
That’s why we were surprised to see a video game sale at Amazon that discounts some of these very games. For a limited time, the site is offering a buy one, get one 50% off sale on a variety of games and accessories.
What’s most interesting about this deal is the selection of games. Perhaps the most popular game of the season, Call of Duty: Black Ops, is on the list in both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, and as an added bonus has been marked down $5. There’s also Goldeneye for Wii, an updated version of the Nintendo 64 classic that consumed much of my childhood.
If you’re looking for accessories, there are various controllers on the list, plus this stereo headset that allows you to trade insults with the teenagers you’re playing against online.
As usual with these types of sales, the 50% discount is applied to the lower-priced item. And while there’s no set timeframe, this deal will only be available as long as supplies last.
