People who purchased a Halloween lantern from Dollar Tree are in for a spooky surprise: It might burn down your house!
The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Dollar Tree announced Thursday a recall of 682,000 plastic Halloween lanterns after receiving a report of the bulb in one unit overheating. The battery-powered decorations, designed to resemble a pumpkin, ghost or skull, sold for $1 a piece at various Dollar Tree stores from August to October of this year. The units can cause burns or fires, though no injuries have been reported.
If you purchased one of these decorations, the CPSC advises removing the batteries and returning the lantern to the retailer for a full refund.
