The position: Health educator, global health for Project HOPE
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Job duties: The educator will perform health education activities as part of a statewide program. He or she will assist with the implementation of the health education program using technically advanced techniques and equipment and will also help prepare training materials and equipment necessary for education and outreach events in various locations in Albuquerque and throughout New Mexico.
The company: Project HOPE is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing lasting solutions to community health problems, with a focus on providing medical training and health education. Founded in 1958, the group also provides humanitarian assistance programs in more than 35 countries.
Requirements: The candidate must have at least three to five years of experience working as a health educator or in public health projects, preferably in the American Southwest. The position requires demonstrated knowledge of adult and child education and group development methodologies. A related degree in health education or a similar field is preferred. Candidates should have experience in working with diverse communities and skills involving designing and delivering health education curricula. Proficiency in English and Spanish, and extensive cross-cultural skills are a must. Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with good problem-solving abilities.

Interesting info: Project HOPE recently launched a program in which they placed tele-monitoring devices in some homes in rural areas of New Mexico, allowing health care providers to remotely monitor patients with chronic illnesses in their homes.
