The position:
Geographic Information System data analyst for OnStar

Location: Detroit, Mich.

Job duties: Responsible for analysis of navigational data as used in OnStar systems to maintain and improve quality levels of the data. Make recommendations and update OnStar's custom navigation tools. Report status, progress and issues related to navigation data. Analyze navigation data requirements for various global projects, and analyze GIS software functionality to find root causes of issues and define short-term and long-term system solutions. Support production deployments by validating system functionality in production as needed.

The company: OnStar, a subsidiary of General Motors (Stock Quote: GM), is a provider of vehicle safety, security and information services. Their in-vehicle monitoring and communication system allows OnStar advisors to communicate with drivers in case of emergency, summon help following an accident and locate stolen vehicles.

Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS or closely related field with coursework in Geography/GIS. Requires at least five years experience in data analysis and scripting/coding with ESRI and related software products. Must have experience in integrating and analyzing many types of geospatial data with ESRI products. Requires familiarity with commercially available Geocoding software for street databases, plus understanding of GPS technology and its integration with GIS software. Must have experience with Microsoft Office products, excellent people skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
