The position: Account manager for social sales at the Boston Museum of Science
Job duties: Responsible for selling space for social events, as well as planning these events. Serves as primary contact with client base for social events, providing excellent customer service in order to reach monthly revenue and customer service goals. Conducts site tours and issues contacts in accordance with department and museum guidelines. Researches new market potential and analyzes market information to generate revenue and cultivate accounts. Creates, develops and implements strategic plans and actions strategy to achieve market financial goals.
The company: The Museum of Science was founded in 1830 and attracts 1.5 million visitors each year. The museum features 700 interactive exhibits and a 3-D Digital Cinema and Butterfly Garden.
Requirements: A bachelor's degree plus one to three years of experience involving selling space for weddings or other social events is required. The museum also wants applicants to have experience working with clients on event logistics and details from start to finish. Applicants must have aggressive and effective sales experience, along with negotiating and forecasting skills. A hotel background is ideal, as this role requires good organizational skills for event planning logistics, plus strong verbal and written communication skills. Data management experience is a plus, as is knowledge of basic accounting principles.
