A Marxist Take on the Financial Crisis

This video will almost certainly enrage some of you, but it’s worth checking out. It was created by the animation division of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), a British think tank of sorts that seeks to encourage “public discourse and critical debate by providing platforms for leading experts to share new ideas on contemporary issues.”

They’ve taken a speech by the noted Marxist scholar and radical social theorist David Harvey and animated it. His lecture endeavors to explain the current global economic crisis from a Marxist perspective. He moves pretty fast, so some of it may be a bit hard to follow (unless, of course, you happen to be a noted Marxist scholar and radical social theorist yourself).

The pretty pictures help though.

What do you think of what he’s got to say?
