The position: Education programs specialist for C-SPAN

Location: Washington, D.C.

Job duties: Develops materials necessary to support, maintain and grow the C-SPAN Classroom membership program. Also represents C-SPAN in front of a variety of audiences. Conducts workshops and outreach programs to the education community and oversees other programs related to social studies education using C-SPAN programming and websites. Assists in the selection of annual C-SPAN teacher fellowship program candidates and helps manage content for the C-SPAN Classroom website. Serves as C-SPAN's "education expert" to help educate teachers and viewers about C-SPAN and its education programs. Represents C-SPAN at trade shows and workshops.

The company: C-SPAN, the Cable Satellite Public Affairs Network, is a private, nonprofit company created in 1979 as a public service by the cable television industry. The channel focuses on providing public access to the political process and government proceedings. C-SPAN is funded by fees paid by satellite and cable affiliates who carry C-SPAN programming.

Requirements: Must have college degree in education, marketing or a related field. Requires three years of related work experience, and classroom teaching experience. Must be detail oriented and highly organized, with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Requires demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects. An understanding of educational applicants of C-SPAN programming is helpful. Applicants should have an interest in and understanding of online educational applications.
