Memorial Day weekend is coming up fast and if you haven’t made travel plans, you should. There are still plenty of good hotel deals and bargain flights for last-minute planners.
Hotels.com has more than 750 hotel deals for Memorial Day weekend around the world that are as much as 50% off the normal price when booked before June 1. You can get a room in the Hotel Design Suites in Bariloche, Argentina for $113, which usually costs twice as much, or if you want to stay in the states, stay at the St. Regis Resort in Aspen, Colo., where the third night is free.
Expedia.com also has a nice list of hotel deals. For example, there are several hotels in Austin, Texas, where you can stay for less than $100 a night, including the Hampton Inn where the average room that weekend costs $78, or 30% cheaper than during the rest of the year. That’s especially nice since Sherman’s Travel recently ranked Austin as the best place to travel for Memorial Day weekend. Apparently, in addition to the city’s limitless amount of sunshine, Austin also has a special triathlon to commemorate the holiday, which is fun to watch.
Travelocity has a list of great vacation packages, like a flight to and from the Dominican Republic plus four nights in a resort for as little as $491 per person. Or get a round-trip flight to the Bahamas with four nights at the Bahama Bay Resort and Spa for just $434 a person.
Several airlines are offering excellent deals on flights that weekend too. Southwest is advertising three nights at the Warwick Hotel in New York plus a round-trip flight from Chicago for $185 a night per person. Or, if you live on the West Coast, you can fly round-trip from Los Angeles to Phoenix and spend four nights at the city’s Fairmont Scottsdale hotel, where one night is free and the cost works out to be just $100 a night per person (yes, with the flight included.)
