Consumer Buzz: T-Mobile, Volvo & Costco

Every day MainStreet will take a closer look at what people are talking and writing about in the world of life and money. Here's what's happening today…

T-Mobile Customer Service – There’s a lot of Web chatter this morning about the fact that T-Mobile (Stock Quote: DT) took top marks in a recent survey ranking the customer service departments of various mobile providers. According to, “The 2010 Wireless Retails Satisfaction Study conducted by research firm Vocal Laboratories ranked T-Mobile highest in terms of retail sales experience and customer satisfaction. The study uses four factors to determine overall points: sales staff, price and promotion, store facility and display.”

Volvo – Another hot topic today is the recent announcement that Ford (Stock Quote: F) has sold Volvo to a Chinese company. The Street’s Glenn Hall wrote about it, pulling no punches: “China's Geely is getting a bargain with its $1.8 billion purchase of Volvo, especially when you recall that Ford paid more than $6 billion for Volvo in 1999.  Thus ends a decade of failure for Ford as a new age of Chinese automotive ascendance begins.”

Costco Locations – Lots of people are searching for Costco (Stock Quote: COST) locations today. It could have something to do with the company’s recent earnings report, or the fact that today is the first night of Passover and people are looking to buy macaroons in bulk.
