Types of Part-Time Position(s) Available: Bus drivers and school bus drivers.
Desired Hours Per Week: Varies by position/route. School bus drivers generally work a split shift, consisting of several hours in the morning and several more in the afternoon, but do not work evenings, holidays or weekends. Other bus drivers may be required to be on call, and may be away from home for two to three days at a time.
Starting Pay: School bus drivers earn $13 to $16 an hour. Pay rates for other drivers depend on qualifications and route.
Benefits: Company provides CDL and school bus driving training.
Requirements: Must have good driving record, with no DWI/DUI arrests or citations related to leaving the scene of an accident. Greyhound bus drivers must be at least 22 years old, with three years of driving experience.
The Inside Scoop: Applicants must be safety-conscious and have good communication skills. School bus drivers must have lots of patience. Bilingual candidates are especially needed.
