Federal Stimulus Jobs Drop This Month

Last month, we wrote that estimating the actual number of jobs created by the government’s $787 billion stimulus plan was very difficult. In fact, as we later reported, the job projection numbers associated with the stimulus are based on mathematical models.

The only true measure of actual jobs created by the stimulus is the number of government jobs posted on USAjobs.gov which are specifically tied to the stimulus.

Last month, it was 87 jobs.

This month it’s 63 jobs.

Most of the jobs are in Washington, DC and many of them pay pretty well. Here are a few in and around the nation’s capital:

• The US General Services Administration is hiring a Customer Communications Specialist and the salary range is between $86,927.00 and $113,007.00 per year.
• The National Park Service is hiring a Trail Worker Supervisor and the job pays $30 per hour.
• The Department of Agriculture is hiring a Project Manager and the salary range is between $120,830.00 and $153,200.00 per year.

There are also a few postings in other parts of the country:

• The U.S. General Services Administration is hiring a Budgeting Analyst in Denver. The pay range is between $72,465 and $94,200 per year.
• The Department of Health and Human Services is hiring a Contract Specialist in Seattle. The salary range is between $71,889 and $93,451 per year.
• The Department of Agriculture is hiring a Loan Specialist in Salt Lake City. The salary is $46,625.
