Major League Baseball’s opening night is April 5. Better start saving now.
The high price of tickets (Yankee seats, for instance, top off at $400 per) plus the $5 hotdog and $8 Bud Light (Stock Quote: BUD) is sure to add up. It's enough to make baseball fans think twice before buying tickets this year.
Want to take your family out to the ball game without having to take out a loan? Minor league baseball offers more affordable tickets for spectators.
For example, tickets for the Buffalo Bison and Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees game April 14 are just $6 through the Minor League Baseball web site.
Later this summer, single game tickets for the Brooklyn Cyclones start around $8. Sure, the lowest price Yankees ticket starts at around $14, but I'd have to sit way back in the upper bleachers (a.k.a. the nose bleed seats). At that rate I’m better off staying home and watching it on a big screen. For decent Yankees seats, I’d have to spend a lot more.
At the minor league games, you get to see the stars of tomorrow at a price closer to yesteryear's. Play ball!
