NEW YORK (MainStreet) — It’s time to squeeze in more midnight shopping, as popular toy chain Toys R Us will be open from now until Christmas Eve.
The company announced last week that it will keep its doors open for 112 uninterrupted hours beginning at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and continuing through 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Toys R Us is also offering a variety of deals today and tomorrow to entice consumers to do some last-minute shopping, including up to 60% off on many popular items and free gifts or gift cards with select purchases. You can find a full roundup of the deals on the Toys R Us website.
This is the second year Toys R Us has opted to pull a week of all-nighters leading up to Christmas, but they’re not alone in the strategy. Earlier last week, Macy’s (Stock Quote: M) announced its plans to keep select stores open from 7 a.m. on Wednesday until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
The longer hours represent one last push to attract consumers this holiday shopping season, and the success of doing so remains to be seen. While Black Friday sales were widely popular and online sales have remained strong through the season, retail sales in November still rose less than expected.
The National Retail Federation estimates that holiday sales will ultimately rise 3.8% this year to a record $469.1 billion.
