NEW YORK (MainStreet) – While the Amazon Kindle used its world-beating price-point of $139 (or $114 if you don’t mind ads) to climb to the top of the e-reader pile, Amazon also offers a premium version, the Kindle DX.
It’s super-sized for easy reading of textbooks and newspapers, can read PDF files and even has an accelerometer so you can read your material in landscape format. Unfortunately it’s quite pricey ($379), so we imagine most folks would spring for an iPad instead.
Today only, though, it can be had for just $299. The Kindle DX is Amazon’s Gold Box deal of the day, which means you can have it for that price until the end of the day, plus it ships for free.
The DX has a 9.7-inch screen, which should be large enough to read just about anything. It also comes with free 3G wireless, which means you can download books anywhere, without any monthly bills.
The deal expires at midnight PDT or while supplies last, though we doubt Amazon is going to run out of Kindles.
