Google announced this month that it is offering small businesses a $100 credit to buy advertisements with Adwords, the company’s popular online marketing platform, when businesses buy another $100 worth of ads themselves.
In order to get the deal, small businesses can register for a new Adwords account thereby throwing their name in the ring to receive this promotion. Businesses that already have an Adwords account can enter their name and e-mail address here to register for the promotion.
The deadline to register is Jan. 15, and the promotion is limited to the first million businesses that apply. Businesses that register in time will receive their $100 coupon code in late February of next year.
The offer applies to any and all businesses in the U.S. and Canada, and according the announcement, Google is primarily reaching out to small businesses because it is “particularly passionate about small businesses!”
Google’s Adwords has become a particularly powerful tool for businesses to advertise online. When you buy an ad, it will only pop up on sites and searches that are somehow related to it. In addition, you will only be asked to pay when users click on your ad, so you get a better deal for your money.
While it’s doubtful that $100 in free advertising is going to make or break a business, every little bit helps, considering that small business confidence has declined recently.
