Why Barnes & Noble (BKS) Stock Is Surging This Morning

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Barnes & Noble Inc. (BKS) are soaring, up 7.30% to $22.06, in pre-market trading after it reported a narrower fourth quarter net loss of $36.7 million or 72 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $189.8 million or $2.04 per share in the same period a year ago.

The bookseller also said its board has agreed to separate its retail and Nook media businesses into separate public companies.
