BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. (Nasdaq: BJRI) today announced the launch of its new mobile application, saving guests both time and money by allowing them to order ahead, move up in line for a table and pay without waiting for their check, all from the convenience of their smartphone or tablet.

By placing new features and services directly in the hands of guests for use at any time and from any place, the BJ’s app sets a new standard for how restaurants use technology to empower their guests and improve the overall dining experience.

Through the app, which is available for iPhone and Android smartphones and tablets, guests can choose features and benefits best suited for their particular dining occasion:
  • Dine-In Order Ahead allows guests to place their food and drink order in advance. Their orders are started as they are seated.
  • Preferred Waitlist allows guests to view current wait times and move up in line from anywhere. If there is a wait, guests who use Dine-In Order Ahead are automatically placed on the Preferred Waitlist.
  • Mobile Pay eliminates waiting for the check.
  • For a limited time, guests can save $5 off all orders $20 or more anytime they use Dine-In Order Ahead, Curbside Take Out Order Ahead or Mobile Pay through the app.

“Our new app provides guests with greater control over their dining experience, giving them the choice to use it when they want and how they want depending on the occasion,” said Greg Trojan, President and Chief Executive Officer of BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. “Through the features and benefits of the app, we’re dedicated to saving our guests more than one million hours.”

Guests using Dine-In Order Ahead are automatically added to the BJ’s Preferred Waitlist, saving significant time during the busiest dining periods of the week. Those who don’t want to order ahead can simply use the Preferred Waitlist feature to view current wait times and move up in line ahead of other guests before they even get to the restaurant. For occasions when guests need to quickly finish their meal, Mobile Pay allows them to instantly pay their bill rather than wait for the server to bring the check and then complete the payment transaction.

“We designed the app and its features to improve the dining experience for the occasions when time is most precious,” said Trojan. “Those occasions might include work colleagues breaking for lunch during a busy day, a mom hoping for an efficient meal with her children, or a group of friends grabbing drinks and appetizers before a concert or a big game.”

Whenever guests use Dine-In Order Ahead, Curbside or Take Out Order Ahead, or Mobile Pay, they also automatically receive BJ’s Premier Rewards points for eligible purchases, which are good for free food, dollars-off savings and other special rewards. Guests can track how many points they have directly in the app feature.

The app further supports the BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. business model, which has resulted in the second highest sales volume and 20 percent more transactions per square foot than any other casual dining chain. The app is also a powerful platform from which to provide new benefits and increase membership in BJ’s Premium Rewards program, currently more than one million members strong.
