CIO Magazine Names John David Thompson To CIO Hall Of Fame

The Western Union Company (NYSE: WU), a leader in global payment services, proudly announces that John David Thompson, Western Union’s Executive Vice President, Global Operations & Technology, Chief Information Officer, is a 2014 inductee into the CIO Hall of Fame from IDG's CIO Magazine.

This prestigious honor is bestowed upon a select group of established executives and visionaries that have had significant impact in the field of IT.

“Entrance into the CIO Hall of Fame is the mark of a distinguished, highly respected career in IT, and the men and women chosen for this honor are carefully vetted by our alumni judges,” said Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief, CIO Magazine & Events. “Since our first class of honorees in 1997, each new group represents IT leadership at its very best. The six outstanding CIOs chosen this year are transforming businesses with technology, collaborating across the C-Suite, and demonstrating the kind of innovative spirit that inspires us all.”

Mr. Thompson will be honored during a special presentation at the 27 th annual CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony, being held August 17-19, 2014 at the Terranea Resort in Ranch Palos Verdes, California. As part of the symposium, Mr. Thompson will also deliver a keynote presentation.
