Two out of the three major indices are trading lower today with the Dow Jones Industrial Average ( ^DJI) trading down 12 points (-0.1%) at 16,435 as of Friday, May 16, 2014, 12:55 PM ET. The NYSE advances/declines ratio sits at 1,512 issues advancing vs. 1,401 declining with 184 unchanged.

The Technology sector currently sits down 0.3% versus the S&P 500, which is unchanged. On the negative front, top decliners within the sector include NetApp ( NTAP), down 3.1%, Wipro ( WIT), down 1.8%, NTT DoCoMo ( DCM), down 1.4%, Cognizant Technology Solutions ( CTSH), down 1.1% and Qualcomm ( QCOM), down 1.0%. Top gainers within the sector include Rackspace Hosting ( RAX), up 20.4%, Applied Materials ( AMAT), up 6.0%, Lam Research ( LRCX), up 4.1%, Verizon Communications ( VZ), up 2.7% and eBay ( EBAY), up 1.8%.

3. TripAdvisor ( TRIP) is one of the companies pushing the Technology sector lower today. As of noon trading, TripAdvisor is down $3.01 (-3.6%) to $80.60 on average volume. The stock has ranged in price between $80.27-$83.74 after having opened the day at $83.45 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $83.61.
