Why Vodafone (VOD) Stock Is Down Today

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Vodafone  (VOD) shares are down -1.8% to $37.13 on Tuesday on the assumption that a bid from AT&T  (T) for the British multinational telecom is off the table.

According to a report in U.K. paper the Guardian, there had been bid speculation that AT&T would make a bid for the company was built into the company's share price on the FTSE 100 , despite AT&T denying such rumors months ago.

However, as rumors that AT&T is making a bid for DirecTV (DTV) heat up, the likelihood of a bid for Vodafone has decreased along with the company's share price this afternoon.
