TripAdvisor Inc (TRIP): Today's Featured Internet Laggard

Throughout the day, 1,236,901 shares of TripAdvisor exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 2,386,800 shares. The stock ranged in price between $84.04-$85.91 after having opened the day at $85.83 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $85.68. Other companies within the Internet industry that declined today were: GrubHub ( GRUB), down 7.7%, LiveDeal ( LIVE), down 7.6%, CRITEO ( CRTO), down 3.4% and Tremor Video ( TRMR), down 2.9%.

TripAdvisor, Inc. operates as an online travel company. TripAdvisor has a market cap of $11.1 billion and is part of the technology sector. Shares are up 3.4% year to date as of the close of trading on Thursday. Currently there are 8 analysts that rate TripAdvisor a buy, 1 analyst rates it a sell, and 11 rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates TripAdvisor as a hold. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its robust revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures and solid stock price performance. However, as a counter to these strengths, we find that the growth in the company's net income has been quite unimpressive.

On the positive front, Innodata ( INOD), up 8.8%, Zillow ( Z), up 7.6%, Trulia ( TRLA), up 7.3% and Net Element ( NETE), up 6.2% , were all gainers within the internet industry with Amazon.com ( AMZN) being today's featured internet industry leader.
