Why British Sky Broadcasting Group (BSYBY) Stock Is Higher Today

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of British Sky Broadcasting Group plc (BSYBY) are up 2.53% to $60.46 after it was reported that the entertainment and communications provider joined with Discovery (DISCA) to bid on the U.K.'s Channel 5 TV station, according to Bloomberg.

Viacom (VIAB) is also involved, sources said.

Northern & Shell owns Channel 5, which airs a number of popular shows.
