NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) was gaining 1.1% to $3.62 Wednesday after announcing that Finnish wireless carrier and ISP Elisa will upgrade its network with the company's wireless network equipment.
The company's said they will deploy the "industry's most advanced end-to-end IP/MPLS network solution" as part of the network upgrade. The upgrade will help improve both in-home Internet connections and wireless connectivity.
As part of the network upgrade Elisa will deploy Alcatel-Lucents' 7950 eXtensible Routing System core router, 7750 Service Router, 7210 Service Access Switch famil for aggregation, and 5620 Service Aware Manager. Alcatel-Lucent will also supply installation and commissioning, lifecycle program management, operations support and consulting, and will manage the migration of network elements and services through its Migrations Operations Centre.
"Under The Shift Plan, Alcatel-Lucent's repositioning as a specialist in IP, cloud and ultra-broadband access technologies is enabling the company to support operators like Elisa in addressing their operational challenges," Luis Martinez Amago, president Europe, Middle East and Africa of Alcatel-Lucent said in a press release. "We are providing Elisa with a highly scalable and agile IP/MPLS network architecture. Second, we are empowering Elisa with the safest and strongest migration capability through our Migrations Operations Centre."
