LyondellBasell Industries ( LYB) pushed the Chemicals industry higher today making it today's featured chemicals winner. The industry as a whole was unchanged today. By the end of trading, LyondellBasell Industries rose $1.00 (1.1%) to $90.57 on average volume. Throughout the day, 3,578,654 shares of LyondellBasell Industries exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 3,431,700 shares. The stock ranged in a price between $90.27-$91.48 after having opened the day at $90.31 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $89.57. Other companies within the Chemicals industry that increased today were: LSB Industries ( LXU), up 6.5%, Amyris ( AMRS), up 5.5%, Omnova Solutions ( OMN), up 5.0% and Methes Energies International ( MEIL), up 4.2%.

LyondellBasell Industries N.V., together with its subsidiaries, manufactures chemicals and polymers; refines crude oil; produces gasoline blending components; and develops and licenses technologies for production of polymers. LyondellBasell Industries has a market cap of $49.2 billion and is part of the basic materials sector. Shares are up 11.6% year to date as of the close of trading on Monday. Currently there are 11 analysts that rate LyondellBasell Industries a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and 3 rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates LyondellBasell Industries as a buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its solid stock price performance, impressive record of earnings per share growth, compelling growth in net income, revenue growth and largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures. We feel these strengths outweigh the fact that the company shows low profit margins.

On the negative front, Lightbridge ( LTBR), down 9.6%, Pacific Ethanol ( PEIX), down 7.4%, PetroLogistics ( PDH), down 5.1% and BioFuel Energy Corporation ( BIOF), down 4.6%.
