Inc (AMZN): Today's Featured Internet Laggard

( AMZN) pushed the Internet industry lower today making it today's featured Internet laggard. The industry as a whole closed the day down 1.1%. By the end of trading, fell $5.54 (-1.5%) to $373.23 on light volume. Throughout the day, 2,634,821 shares of exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 3,715,100 shares. The stock ranged in price between $369.42-$379.00 after having opened the day at $378.77 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $378.77. Other companies within the Internet industry that declined today were: Renren ( RENN), down 9.8%, Incorporated ( COUP), down 7.9%, Tremor Video ( TRMR), down 7.3% and International ( DATE), down 4.9%., Inc. operates as an online retailer in North America and internationally. The company operates in two segments, North America and International. has a market cap of $172.2 billion and is part of the services sector. Shares are down 5.0% year to date as of the close of trading on Tuesday. Currently there are 23 analysts that rate a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and 7 rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates as a hold. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its robust revenue growth, impressive record of earnings per share growth and compelling growth in net income. However, as a counter to these strengths, we also find weaknesses including generally higher debt management risk and poor profit margins.

On the positive front, LiveDeal ( LIVE), up 7.3%, MeetMe ( MEET), up 5.5%, Conversant ( CNVR), up 4.2% and Zillow ( Z), up 2.3% , were all gainers within the internet industry with LinkedIn ( LNKD) being today's featured internet industry leader.
