By the end of trading, Plug Power rose $2.04 (24.7%) to $10.31 on heavy volume. Throughout the day, 211,194,478 shares of Plug Power exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 26,805,700 shares. The stock ranged in a price between $8.57-$11.41 after having opened the day at $9.23 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $8.27. Other companies within the Electronics industry that increased today were: Montage Technology Group ( MONT), up 20.4%, Aehr Test Systems ( AEHR), up 13.2%, Himax Technologies ( HIMX), up 10.9% and Altair Nanotechnologies ( ALTI), up 9.9%.

Plug Power Inc., an alternative energy technology provider, engages in the design, development, commercialization, and manufacture of fuel cell systems for the industrial off-road markets worldwide. Plug Power has a market cap of $744.3 million and is part of the technology sector. Shares are up 310.3% year to date as of the close of trading on Friday. Currently there are 2 analysts that rate Plug Power a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and none rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Plug Power as a sell. The company's weaknesses can be seen in multiple areas, such as its deteriorating net income and disappointing return on equity.

On the negative front, Amtech Systems ( ASYS), down 7.8%, BTU International ( BTUI), down 7.0%, Trina Solar ( TSL), down 6.8% and Sutron Corporation ( STRN), down 6.5% , were all laggards within the electronics industry with SunEdison ( SUNE) being today's electronics industry laggard.
