Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has delivered a cloud-based program for the City of Ghent and the Public Center for Social Welfare (OCMW) human resources departments, creating an innovative digital solution that enhances training and performance management. As part of the digitalization program, relevant HR data for 6,000 employees including available training programs and training history were migrated to the secure public cloud. The new HR system was implemented in less than one year, on time and within budget. “As an integral part of their digital IT strategies, cloud can make Public Services more responsive, more flexible, more scalable and more cost effective,” said Hendrik De Wilde, managing director for Accenture’s Health & Public Service. “As the City of Ghent and OCMW have demonstrated, cloud is now ready to power the public sector’s future innovations. The maturity of the top cloud solutions creates an opportunity for public sector organizations that want to maintain high quality standards.” Accenture leveraged SAP’s SuccessFactors to create an integrated, complimentary system that is cost effective and provides the necessary flexibility to meet future needs. As government budgets across Europe continue to face pressures, digital agendas help provide an increased focus on service and quality while enabling higher productivity. City of Ghent and OCMW are taking advantage of cloud technology to extend services available to its internal customers while addressing costs. “Cloud lowers capital investment and yearly operating costs,” De Wilde said. “It really makes a difference in times of already thin budgets that are under continued pressure.” City of Ghent and OCMW now can be considered as leaders in the way they interact with their employees. Because the system is web-based and mobile-enabled, all employees will be able to conduct transactions anywhere, any time – from home, office or any number of sites in the city and via smartphones and tablets. The cloud-based system also increases flexibility for workers looking to balance their personal and professional lives.
City of Ghent and OCMW’s new system is operated by Digipolis, the private ICT-partner that supports users from the city administrations, OCMW agencies, police and the city’s education system.“Accenture currently is working on more than many SuccessFactors projects around the world, helping public sector and other industry clients improve their HR systems to maximize the performance of their people,” said Vinzenz Kremer, global managing director of SAP Cloud at Accenture.
