Stratasys Ltd (SSYS): Today's Featured Industrial Goods Winner

Stratasys ( SSYS) pushed the Industrial Goods sector higher today making it today's featured industrial goods winner. The sector as a whole closed the day up 0.8%. By the end of trading, Stratasys rose $4.02 (3.6%) to $114.80 on average volume. Throughout the day, 1,262,878 shares of Stratasys exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 1,243,700 shares. The stock ranged in a price between $111.25-$115.60 after having opened the day at $111.26 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $110.78. Other companies within the Industrial Goods sector that increased today were: Ocean Power Technologies ( OPTT), up 32.5%, China Advanced Construction Materials Group ( CADC), up 21.2%, Caesarstone Sdot-Yam ( CSTE), up 19.6% and Metalico ( MEA), up 9.5%.

Stratasys Ltd. provides additive manufacturing (AM) solutions for the creation of parts used in the processes of designing and manufacturing products and for the direct manufacture of end parts. Stratasys has a market cap of $5.5 billion and is part of the computer hardware industry. Shares are down 17.8% year to date as of the close of trading on Tuesday. Currently there are 12 analysts that rate Stratasys a buy, 1 analyst rates it a sell, and 3 rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Stratasys as a hold. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its robust revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures and solid stock price performance. However, as a counter to these strengths, we also find weaknesses including deteriorating net income, disappointing return on equity and feeble growth in the company's earnings per share.

On the negative front, Continental Materials Corporation ( CUO), down 11.3%, IntriCon Corporation ( IIN), down 7.6%, China Recycling Energy Corporation ( CREG), down 7.2% and Covanta Holding Corporation ( CVA), down 6.2%.
