Plug Power Inc. (PLUG): Today's Featured Electronics Laggard

By the end of trading, Plug Power fell $0.08 (-2.5%) to $3.10 on light volume. Throughout the day, 9,043,428 shares of Plug Power exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 19,854,400 shares. The stock ranged in price between $3.06-$3.24 after having opened the day at $3.16 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $3.18. Plug Power Inc., an alternative energy technology provider, engages in the design, development, commercialization, and manufacture of fuel cell systems for the industrial off-road markets worldwide. Plug Power has a market cap of $359.3 million and is part of the technology sector. Shares are up 105.2% year to date as of the close of trading on Thursday. Currently there are 2 analysts that rate Plug Power a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and none rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Plug Power as a sell. The company's weaknesses can be seen in multiple areas, such as its deteriorating net income and disappointing return on equity.

On the positive front, Lattice Semiconductor ( LSCC), up 14.7%, Aeroflex ( ARX), up 14.6%, GT Advanced Technologies ( GTAT), up 13.7% and Vicon Industries ( VII), up 12.5% , were all gainers within the electronics industry with Micron Technology ( MU) being today's featured electronics industry leader.
