SAN DIEGO, Calif., Jan. 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LRAD Corporation (NASDAQ: LRAD), the world's leading provider of long range acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), today announced the receipt of a $4.0 million perimeter/border security order for LRAD 2000X systems, spare parts and accessories from a country in the Middle East. Shipments are scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2014. "This order represents our most significant order to date for the LRAD 2000X, our most powerful hailing device, capable of providing a highly intelligible, directional audio broadcast that can be clearly understood at distances in excess of 3.5 kilometers," noted Tom Brown, President and CEO of LRAD Corporation. "The LRAD 2000X was developed to provide long-range communication capability for perimeter/border protection. In the Middle East and Asia, governments are focused on securing their borders and are looking at sensor systems that are effective from a cost and performance standpoint. The LRAD 2000X is a key component in this configuration, especially when equipped with a high-powered light and camera." Using proprietary technology and innovative designs, LRAD systems generate highly intelligible voice broadcasts from 300 meters to over 3.5 kilometers, providing public safety personnel with the ability to issue authoritative and readily understandable voice communications and warning tones that safely establish standoff zones, de-escalate tense situations, and save lives on both sides of the Long Range Acoustic Device®. Due to its extended frequency range, LRAD ensures that voice communications in any language are clearly heard and understood over crowd and traffic noise, and inside buildings and vehicles.
