Throughout the day, 2,636,120 shares of Radian Group exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 4,066,200 shares. The stock ranged in a price between $15.41-$15.78 after having opened the day at $15.50 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $15.50. Other companies within the Insurance industry that increased today were: Life Partners Holdings ( LPHI), up 6.8%, Kingstone Companies ( KINS), up 4.8%, CorVel Corporation ( CRVL), up 3.3% and Baldwin & Lyons ( BWINB), up 3.0%.

Radian Group Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates as a credit enhancement company in the United States. The company operates in two segments, Mortgage Insurance and Financial Guaranty. Radian Group has a market cap of $2.7 billion and is part of the financial sector. Shares are up 9.8% year to date as of the close of trading on Friday. Currently there are 4 analysts that rate Radian Group a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and 1 rates it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Radian Group as a hold. Among the primary strengths of the company is its solid stock price performance. At the same time, however, we also find weaknesses including deteriorating net income, disappointing return on equity and poor profit margins.

On the negative front, Phoenix Companies ( PNX), down 4.8%, American Equity Investment Life Holding Com ( AEL), down 3.6%, Fidelity National Financial ( FNF), down 3.3% and United Insurance Holdings ( UIHC), down 2.4% , were all laggards within the insurance industry with Travelers Companies ( TRV) being today's insurance industry laggard.
