U.S. Adds 74,000 Jobs in December

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- The U.S. work force added 74,000 jobs in December, the Labor Department said Friday.

The unemployment rate  fell to 6.7% from 7% in the previous month.

Payrolls were expected by economists to have risen by 196,000 last month, according to a Reuters survey, down from a gain of 203,000 jobs in November. The unemployment rate was forecast to remain steady at 7%.
