Throughout the day, 1,714,913 shares of Joy Global exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 1,638,900 shares. The stock ranged in a price between $56.69-$58.03 after having opened the day at $56.99 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $56.74. Joy Global Inc. engages in the manufacture and servicing of mining equipment for the extraction of coal, copper, iron ore, oil sands, and other minerals. It operates in two segments, Underground Mining Machinery and Surface Mining Equipment. Joy Global has a market cap of $5.8 billion and is part of the industrial goods sector. Shares are down 11.0% year to date as of the close of trading on Thursday. Currently there are 9 analysts that rate Joy Global a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and 9 rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Joy Global as a hold. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures, reasonable valuation levels and notable return on equity. However, as a counter to these strengths, we also find weaknesses including feeble growth in the company's earnings per share, deteriorating net income and poor profit margins.

On the negative front, Euro Tech Holdings Company ( CLWT), down 10.2%, Ocean Power Technologies ( OPTT), down 5.8%, China Recycling Energy Corporation ( CREG), down 5.5% and Bonso Electronics International ( BNSO), down 4.5%.

For investors not wanting singular stock exposure, ETFs may be of interest. Investors who are bullish on the industrial industry could consider SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DIA) while those bearish on the industrial industry could consider ProShares UltraShort Industrials ( SIJ).
