Infoblox Becomes First Network Control Vendor To Achieve USGv6 Compliance

Infoblox Inc. (NYSE:BLOX), the automated network control company, today became the first network control vendor to achieve the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s USGv6 compliance certification, awarded to the company’s line of full-featured DDI (DNS, DHCP and IP address management) physical and virtual appliances.

As the number of people and machines using the Internet continues to grow exponentially, the global pool of available IPv4 addresses – the unique numerical identifiers for Internet-connected devices – is nearing exhaustion. The newer IPv6 standard provides 340 trillion trillion trillion IP addresses, compared to just 4.3 billion for IPv4, but IPv6 addresses are much more complex than IPv4 addresses and are therefore more challenging for network administrators to manage.

The United States government is moving aggressively to deploy IPv6 and has created a test program that provides proof of compliance with IPv6 specifications. The program is designed to help ensure the completeness, correctness, interoperability and security of IPv6 products to protect early government investments in the technology.

Infoblox turned to the University of New Hampshire’s InterOperability Laboratory for compliance testing. The lab has been providing independent, vendor-neutral testing for over a decade to validate conformance to technical standards and provide quality assurance for IPv6 features and functionality.

“IPv6 is a transformative technology that will impact the entire networking industry in the coming years,” said Erica Johnson, director, University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory. “Effective testing of IPv6 products is crucial, and Infoblox is demonstrating its leadership by achieving this recognition.”
