(NASDAQ: CKEC), a leading entertainment, digital cinema and 3-D motion picture exhibitor, today announced the grand opening of its all-new Carmike 13 entertainment complex in the Colorado Springs Chapel Hills Mall (1710 Briargate Boulevard 80920). The theatre officially opens at 4:00 p.m. (local time) on Thursday, December 19, 2013 with a special fundraising event benefiting Ronald McDonald House. Multiple show times will be available on Thursday, December 19 th with all proceeds from the discounted $2.00 movie tickets, $2.00 popcorn, and $2.00 drink specials benefiting Ronald McDonald House. Several new movies are set to debut on Friday the 20 th, including: Anchorman 2, Saving Mr. Banks, Walking with Dinosaurs and American Hustle, making for an exciting, extended opening weekend celebration. Expected to draw Colorado Springs-area moviegoers, Carmike’s unique BigD entertainment experience at this location features a screen measuring over 80-feet wide and three stories tall, plush leather high-back rocking seats, and a seating capacity for close to 600 guests. Beginning Friday, December 20 th all BigD ticket purchasers will be given vouchers redeemable for a $1.00 large drink and $1.00 large popcorn (valid until close of business Sunday 12/22/13). The new 13-screen theatre seats over 2,800 guests in luxurious comfort with stadium style seating, high-back rocking luxury seats and retractable armrests with convenient cup holders. The Carmike 13 will also have large, wall-to-wall screens, as well as high-quality DLP digital projection and digital sound. Other components of the new theatre include an upscale lobby with multiple concession areas featuring Coca-Cola Freestyle drink centers, one-stop ticketing and unique concessions stations. Perhaps the top feature of the new complex is the state-of-the-art BigD digital large screen auditorium, Carmike’s critically acclaimed premium theatre experience. The BigD auditorium includes the latest in cutting-edge sound from QSC, featuring quad-amplified, 4-way speakers, 21-inch subwoofers, 16 channels and 7.1 surround sound, upgradeable to 11.1. The BigD digital large screen is powered by a top-of-the-line Christie Brilliant 3D flash projector with light output of 30,000 lumens, producing a picture quality with noticeably higher resolution than HD, for both 2-D and 3-D features.
The Carmike 13 will operate with flexible show-times throughout the week, providing daily, value-discounted matinee pricing via its very popular “ Super Bargain Matinee Special…All Seats, All Shows are just $5.50 between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m.” Carmike is also pleased to bring the “ Stimulus Tuesday” concessions special to Colorado Springs cinemagoers. Drinks and popcorn cost only $2.00 each and every Tuesday at all Carmike locations.
