Canon U.S.A. Supports Award-Winning Sebastian River Medical Center With Innovative Bariatric Solutions

Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announces a forward-thinking Healthcare Solutions installation at the prestigious Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian, Florida with the introduction of the RadPRO D2-50RF Dynamic Digital RF System 1, including the Canon portable CXDI-50RF dual-purpose detector, to the organization’s 154-bed hospital. The application of this innovative system has helped Sebastian River Medical Center to establish its state-of-the-art Bariatric Care Unit and secure a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence Designation Award by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This certification allows Sebastian River Medical Center to provide bariatric surgical care for patients covered by Medicare and select Medicaid plans.

“We were honored to be chosen by Sebastian River Medical Center as the preferred solution for its award-winning bariatric program,” said Tsuneo Imai, senior director and general manager, Healthcare Solutions Division, Canon U.S.A. “Whether used in general radiography procedures or for more specific activities – such as bariatric services –the RadPRO series, equipped with Canon digital radiography detectors, and the Virtual Imaging, Inc. full lineup of healthcare imaging technologies are designed to provide medical professionals with the tools that inspire efficient, patient-centric care.”

“Receiving this accreditation is a clear representation of the excellent staff, services and equipment offered by the team at Sebastian River Medical Center,” said Patrick Domkowksi, MD, Medical Director, Sebastian River Medical Center. “With the ability to provide high-quality, comprehensive imaging exams that actually improve and expedite the exam experience, the RadPRO solution should be a clear choice for any healthcare organization looking to enhance its general radiography procedures – especially if the focus is on bariatric care.”

The RadPRO D2-50RF digital radiography system is equipped with a Canon digital detector that provides high-resolution imaging capabilities to support accurate diagnosis. In addition, this dual-purpose device helps healthcare professionals accelerate their exam processes by performing both digital fluoroscopy and digital radiography exams on one device – thereby helping to create an efficient and cost-effective workflow. Ideal for high-volume facilities, the RadPRO D2-50RF Dynamic Digital RF System also offers a flexible, portable imaging solution with a removable digital detector for outstanding convenience and ease-of-use.

To achieve these prestigious designations from the ASMBS and ACS, Sebastian River Medical Center was required to complete a rigorous review of the hospital’s bariatric program. For more information on the certification process, visit asmbs.org.
