Eastern Mountain Sports Gears Up For Dropship And Product Catalog Automation With VendorNet

VendorNet® Inc., an eBay Enterprise company, and leading provider of omnichannel fulfillment and supply chain management technologies, today announced it has signed an agreement with Eastern Mountain Sports® to streamline key supply chain operations through its VendorNet Dropship Manager and SKU Space solutions.

Eastern Mountain Sports, an entity of Vestis Retail Group, which also includes Bob’s Stores, has partnered with eBay Enterprise since 2009, leveraging its commerce technology and customer service solutions.

VendorNet Dropship Manager and SKU Space are extensible solutions in the eBay Enterprise suite of Commerce Technologies. VendorNet Dropship Manager will drive an expanded product assortment without the risk of inventory carrying costs. SKU Space will automate product inventory updates and product catalog management. Combined, the solutions will deliver an enriched shopping experience for outdoor enthusiasts, and provide Eastern Mountain Sports with a flexible, system agnostic platform to support dropship operations for both the retailer and its vendors.

“We sought a solution that provides flexible and rapid expansion opportunities with our vendor base and the tools to effectively manage our own customer’s expectations. We also had positive exposure to VendorNet Dropship Manager through our relationship with eBay Enterprise,” said Mary Lesser, director of ecommerce operations at Eastern Mountain Sports. “VendorNet has a sizeable dropship vendor base of more than 26,000, which gives us easy access to vendors that are already familiar with the system, and its portal- and service-level reporting tools surpassed any other options we considered. Also, SKU Space eases the challenge of accurate inventory and improves efficiencies pertaining to product content development. In other words, VendorNet has a well-rounded solution that made it the obvious choice for us.”

With the launch of VendorNet technologies, Eastern Mountain Sports will realize a 40-fold increase in dropship partners over the next 12 months and plans to utilize the same platforms with its sister brand, Bob’s Stores. According to Lesser, an expanded breadth of product will allow Eastern Mountain Sports to reach more customers and satisfy a broader array of needs and geographies.

“We share Eastern Mountain Sports’ enthusiasm for giving its customers diverse products to make the company the number one choice for outdoor apparel and gear,” stated Tobias Hartmann, head of omnichannel operations at eBay Enterprise. “Our dropship technology will cut at least 10 manual steps off current dropship operations, which translates to faster delivery to the customer and improve revenue recognition time for both the retailer and its vendors.”

“The VendorNet implementation team has been great. Everything is organized; the project plan is clear; everyone knows exactly what they need to do. VendorNet has broken the complete implementation process down into logical steps to make it simple for us, our vendors, and our sister company. This has been a smooth transition as we head into peak season,” said Lesser.
