Kimball International, Inc., (NASDAQ: KBALB) the global manufacturer of electronic components and commercial furniture, today announced the appointment of Donald W. “Don” Van Winkle to Executive Vice President, Kimball International. Van Winkle remains President, Office Furniture Group. The appointment, effective immediately, recognizes Van Winkle’s record of contributions and personal achievements as well as reflects Kimball International’s commitment to internal leadership development.

Announcing the appointment, Kimball International President and CEO, Jim Thyen, stated, “Don has demonstrated his market insights and earned respect for his valued judgments. It is my pleasure to make this appointment, as an acknowledgement of Don’s accomplishments and of his growing role in the strategic leadership of Kimball International as a whole.” Van Winkle has skillfully guided the Company’s Office Furniture Group with sustained operational excellence. Van Winkle joined Kimball International in January 1991 as Kimball Office Furniture Divisional Controller, advancing through successively more responsible roles in accounting, finance and administration. In 1999 he was named Vice President, Chief Finance and Administrative Officer for the six business units within the company’s furniture segment. In that role, Van Winkle was responsible for accounting, finance, sales and market analysis, facilities, information technology, demand management, financial services, e-business and quality. He was promoted to Vice President, General Manager, National Office Furniture in October, 2003, assuming overall leadership of that brand’s operations. In February 2010, Van Winkle was promoted to the position of President, Office Furniture Group and Vice President, of Kimball International, Inc., with responsibility for National Office Furniture, Kimball Office, and the Furniture Group Shared Services organization. In that position, Van Winkle assumed responsibility for the full stream of business unit operations, overseeing an extensive organization including sales, marketing, administration, customer service, finance, product development and manufacturing.
