The Tile Shop, a specialty retailer of manufactured and natural stone tiles, will open a new retail store along the Clybourn Corridor specifically designed to meet the needs of home owners living in and near Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The new location, the ninth retail store for The Tile Shop in the Chicago market, will feature a vast array of tile and stone products – up to 2,000 products purveyed from around the world -- to meet the interior design needs of Lincoln Park homeowners, as well as those who live in other nearby neighborhoods such as Lakeview, North Center, Logan Square, West Town, and the Near North. The Tile Shop’s other eight Chicago-area locations include: Countryside, Deerfield, Lake Zurich, Lombard, Naperville, Schaumburg, Skokie, and Tinley Park. The Tile Shop’s new Chicago location will be located in Blackhawk on Halsted, a LEED-silver certified, mixed-use property located at 1460 N. Halsted that opened in 2008. Blackhawk on Halsted is a 225,000-square-foot property housing well-recognized healthcare businesses such as Town and Country Pediatrics and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The property also is home to The British School of Chicago, a private school with 750 students, and the only REI retail store in the city of Chicago. The Tile Shop has partnered with Structured Development, the developer of Blackhawk on Halsted, to develop 13,000 square feet on the ground floor of the mixed-use development for The Tile Shop. In addition to REI, other nearby retailers include the Apple Store, CB2, Crate&Barrel, Sur la table, and Anthropologie. In comparison to The Tile Shop’s suburban retail locations, which average 23,000 square feet, the smaller retail footprint of the Lincoln Park location will feature the same number of products as its larger stores. The Lincoln Park store will be configured to place the focus of the buying experience on The Tile Shop’s Design Center. Sales associates and customers will use iPad Air tablets to access a suite of information to make design decisions easier. The Tile Shop’s unique Learning Center will offer free classes every Saturday morning providing information and hands-on tile demonstrations for busy downtown professionals.
