Zillow Inc (Z): Today's Featured Internet Laggard

Zillow ( Z) pushed the Internet industry lower today making it today's featured Internet laggard. The industry as a whole closed the day up 0.4%. By the end of trading, Zillow fell $4.36 (-5.0%) to $83.03 on heavy volume. Throughout the day, 1,904,555 shares of Zillow exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 1,132,000 shares. The stock ranged in price between $82.65-$87.38 after having opened the day at $87.00 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $87.39. Other companies within the Internet industry that declined today were: Friendfinder Networks ( FFN), down 93.0%, Monster Offers ( MONT), down 8.3%, Angie's List ( ANGI), down 3.5% and LiveDeal ( LIVE), down 3.3%.

Zillow, Inc. engages in the operation of a real estate and home-related information marketplace on mobile and the Web in the United States. Zillow has a market cap of $2.8 billion and is part of the financial sector. Shares are up 222.6% year to date as of the close of trading on Thursday. Currently there are 3 analysts that rate Zillow a buy, 1 analyst rates it a sell, and 4 rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Zillow as a hold. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its robust revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures and solid stock price performance. However, as a counter to these strengths, we also find weaknesses including deteriorating net income, disappointing return on equity and weak operating cash flow.

On the positive front, China Finance Online ( JRJC), up 17.0%, ChinaCache International Holdings ( CCIH), up 13.1%, Bitauto Holdings ( BITA), up 7.1% and SouFun Holdings ( SFUN), up 6.2% , were all gainers within the internet industry with Facebook Inc Class A ( FB) being today's featured internet industry leader.
