Kazakhstan is the ninth largest country in the world; its territory of 2,727,300 square kilometers (1,053,000 sq. mi) is larger than Western Europe. In addition, its extreme weather conditions (temperatures vary from -40°C to +40°C), make it almost impossible to dig foundations six months out of the year. "We were charged with finding a solution that was cost effective, met the stringent safety and environmental regulations stipulated by the government and various agencies as well as addressed the unique logistic and weather challenges," says Uri Bar Yosef, GM of the Infrastructure at the Telecom Division. "After intensive studies and deliberations together with the customer, we came up with the pre-loaded tower solution using prefabricated concrete blocks." The Telecom Division has set up local operations including a full logistics facility and training center, to provide ongoing support for the project. The rollout marks the second project with the operator, following the successful completion of a similar one in Russia. In addition to telecom infrastructure, the division provides a wide range of innovative solutions including M2M enablement and vertical market applications, Mobile Financial Services (MFS), Cloud Billing, MVNO enablement, Smart City, as well as on/off board and remote/contactless payment solutions for public transport operators.
