Yahoo! Inc (YHOO): Today's Featured Technology Winner

Yahoo ( YHOO) pushed the Technology sector higher today making it today's featured technology winner. The sector as a whole closed the day up 0.3%. By the end of trading, Yahoo rose $1.41 (4.5%) to $32.75 on heavy volume. Throughout the day, 39,060,022 shares of Yahoo exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 16,305,000 shares. The stock ranged in a price between $31.58-$33.00 after having opened the day at $31.65 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $31.34. Other companies within the Technology sector that increased today were: Monster Offers ( MONT), up 28.0%, Deltathree ( DDDC), up 22.2%, PT Indosat TBK ( IIT), up 15.1% and SemiLEDs ( LEDS), up 15.0%.

Yahoo! Inc., a technology company, provides search, content, and communication tools on the Web and on mobile devices worldwide. Yahoo has a market cap of $31.9 billion and is part of the internet industry. Shares are up 57.1% year to date as of the close of trading on Wednesday. Currently there are 10 analysts that rate Yahoo a buy, 1 analyst rates it a sell, and 14 rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Yahoo as a buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its solid stock price performance, compelling growth in net income, notable return on equity, reasonable valuation levels and expanding profit margins. Although no company is perfect, currently we do not see any significant weaknesses which are likely to detract from the generally positive outlook.

On the negative front, Sungame ( SGMZ), down 23.1%, Astea International ( ATEA), down 11.6%, FAB Universal ( FU), down 10.6% and LookSmart ( LOOK), down 8.6% , were all laggards within the technology sector with Jabil Circuit ( JBL) being today's technology sector laggard.
